The Earth's core is the central section in the layers of the Earth. Just a century the Earth's core was unknown to man kind. We now are constantly exporing and identifying the eath's core. We have labelled that the Earth has 2 types of core; inner and outer.
It wasn't until 1980, that we discovered that Earth has a thick core, due to gravity from the Sun and Moon. It's suspected that it is made out of iron and it has been proven that the Earth's core is liquid.
The core consists of the outer core, a thick covered shell containing only liquid. Then there is the inner core, located at the very centre and this is solid, only because of the high quantities of pressure, due to the outraging temperatures.
This image shows you where all the elements; inner core, outer core, mantle, asthenosphere, lithosphere, crust.
